Charles Wang Ice Hockey Hope Project to hold girls' game in China

HARBIN, China, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Charles Wang Ice Hockey Hope Project is going to hold girls' game for the first time in the city of Jiamusi in Heilongjiang province.

The competition starts on Thursday drawing 11 Hope Project school teams from Jilin, Heilongjiang and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Hope Project, sponsored by Chinese American businessman Charles Wang, was initiated by New York Islanders Hockey Club and Chinese Ice Hockey Association in 2005.

In the past 12 years, the project has been carried out in 33 schools, most of them in northeast Heilongjiang province with over 4,000 students taking ice hockey trainings. Enditem
