SHIJIAZHUANG, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Performance troupes from China, Russia, Mongolia and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) received the highest award at the 16th China Wuqiao International Circus Festival (CWICF) currently being held in Shijiazhuang, capital of north China's Hebei Province.

Russian Swing from Russia, Mongolian Nomads from Mongolia, Aerial Trapeze from the DPRK and Trampoline from China received the "Golden Lion Award," with 12 other groups winning either the "Silver Lion Award" or "Bronze Lion Award", the organizing committee announced Thursday.

Twenty-nine troupes from 17 countries and regions will perform during the festival that ends on Oct. 12.

The CWICF, named after the birthplace of Chinese acrobatics -- Hebei's Wuqiao County, is considered one of the three top international acrobatic competitions along with the Monte-Carlo International Circus Festival in Monaco and the World Festival of the Circus of Tomorrow, in France. Enditem
