HUANGSHAN, China, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- The 15-year-old Wang Jianjiahe swam her sixth race in four days in the women's 400m freestyle final to collect a silver medal here on Monday at the Chinese National Swimming Championships.

Wang representing Liaoning, reserved some energy in the heats in the morning, but still failed to take over her teammate Hou Yawen in the evening's final. Hou touched the wall first in four minutes and 9.23 seconds and Wang was 0.32 seconds behind.

"I was tired and not 100 percent fit," said Wang, who had competed in three heats and three finals here. Furthermore, she is slated to swim in one more race on Tuesday in the 800m freestyle final.

"I haven't competed so many races in one competition before," said Wang. "I just want to enrich my experience and challenge my limit."

China's top swimmer Sun Yang did try to compete in five individual freestyle events at the National Championships and swept all of the five golds.

Former Olympic champion Ye Shiwen also took part in five individual events at Huangshan and clinched her second national title of breaststroke on Monday.

The 21-year-old won the 200m breastroke final in 2:26.97, more than five seconds behind the national record, but already her personal best.

On Sunday, Ye clinched her first national title of breaststroke by winning the 100m race, also with her personal best timing of 1:09.26.

"It's far beyond my expectation," said Ye, a junior of the law college at Tsinghua University. "After the National Games, I just practiced four days a week and usually one hour every time with the university's swimming team. I also took a rest during the National Day holiday."

In other actions, Ji Xinjie of Shandong was crowned in the men's 100m freestyle in 50.19 seconds, followed by his teammate winning the men's 100m backstroke in 55.14 seconds. Both swimmers had taken three golds in the tournament.

Yan Zibei of Hubei grabbed the gold medal of the men's 50m breaststroke in 27.60 seconds. His teammate Chen Jie took victory in the women's 100m backstroke in 1:01.10. Enditem
