ANKARA -- A Turkish military CASA-type cargo plane on Wednesday afternoon crashed in the southern Anatolian province of Isparta during training exercises, killing three Turkish crew members.

BAQUBA, Iraq -- Two policemen and a civilian were killed and eight other people injured on Wednesday in bomb and gunfire attacks, mainly targeting security forces, in Iraq's eastern province of Diyala, a provincial official and a security source said.

In one of the attacks, two policemen were killed and seven others wounded when a roadside bomb went off near their patrol in Tubaj area, some 80 km north of the provincial capital Baquba, said Sadiq al-Husseini, head of the provincial council's security committee, told Xinhua. (Iraq-Attack)

DUBAI -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) said Wednesday it will follow "all official international channels" against Qatar's alleged interception of two regular UAE passenger flights en route to Bahrain.

The Gulf state's official news agency WAM reported that the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Qatar's move "endangered air safety and passengers' lives." (UAE-Qatar)

TUNIS -- Avian influenza has caused the death of 45 people with H1N1 virus in Tunisia since the beginning of winter, a health official said on Wednesday.

"Most cases of death concern patients over the age of 50, particularly those who are chronically ill, or who have not followed the instructions of the National Plan for the Prevention of Seasonal Influenza launched by Ministry of Health", said Insaf Ben Alaya, Director of the National Observatory of New and Emerging Diseases.
