TRIPOLI -- The international Financial Action Task Force (FATF) lifted Libya from the list of countries unable to fight money laundering and terrorism financing, the Central Bank of Libya said in a statement on Wednesday.

"A major achievement was made on February 20, 2018 with a decision issued by the international Financial Action Task Force (FATF) after Libya had been included in the list of states subject to follow-up with respect to ability to apply standards and obligations to combat money-laundering and terrorism financing crimes," the statement said. DAMASCUS -- The Syrian government forces started entering Kurdish-controlled neighborhoods in the northern part of Aleppo city in northern Syria on Thursday, a monitor group said.

The government forces will set up checkpoints and hoist the official Syrian flag in Sheikh Maksud, Bustan al-Basha, Enzarat, Halak, Sakan al-Shababi, Haydarieh, Shqaif and Bani Zaid, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. (Syria-Kurds-Aleppo)

TEHRAN -- Iran may withdraw from the 2015 international nuclear deal if it cannot receive economic benefits, Iranian deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi was quoted as saying Thursday.

"If the policy of confusion and uncertainties about the JCPOA (or nuclear deal) continues, if companies and banks are not working with Iran, we cannot remain in a deal that has no benefit for us," Araqchi was quoted by Press TV as saying during a speech at Britain's Royal Institute of International Affairs in London. ALGIERS -- Algerian Minister of Tourism and Handcrafts Hassan Mermouri on Thursday said his country is seeking to attract more Chinese tourists by easing the visa issuing procedures.
