Super Chess Grandmaster Tournament to kick off in China's Danzhou

  HAIKOU, July, 18 (Xinhua) -- The 9th China Hainan Danzhou Super Chess Grandmaster tournament will take place from July 26 to August 4 in Danzhou, a western city in China's Hainan province.

  A total of eight chess players will compete in the tournament, including China's Yu Yangyi, Wei Yi and Bu Xiangzhi, Russia's Fedoseev Vladimir, Vietnam's Le Quang Liem, America's Shankland Samuel, Poland's Duda Jan-Krzysztof and India's Vidit Santosh Gujrathi.

The total prize is 60,000 U.S. dollars and the champion will win 140,000 RMB (about 20,869 U.S. dollars).

  In order to promote the popularity of chess in Hainan, a series of related activities will be held during the tournament, including the local chess tournament for school children, a chess theme summer camp and the national youth chess tournament. Enditem
