BEIJING, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese mainland spokesperson said here Wednesday that the mainland has always supported Taiwanese enterprises' development on the mainland, and the general situation of Taiwanese enterprises on the mainland remains good.

"We will further open up and better our business environment to bring more room and opportunities to Taiwanese enterprises to develop on the mainland," said Ma Xiaoguang, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, at a press conference.

The mainland has approved 3,265 Taiwan-invested projects from Jan. to Aug. in 2018, up 29.6 percent year on year, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

The first China International Import Expo (CIIE) will be held from Nov. 5 to 10 in Shanghai. 72 Taiwanese companies from electronics, intelligence, medical and food and service industries have signed up for the expo.

Ma said a large group of Taiwanese compatriots have actively participated in the mainland's reform and opening-up during the past 40 years and made great contributions to mainland's development.

"We sincerely welcome Taiwanese enterprises to join the CIIE," said Ma. Enditem
