Yangshuo climbing festival attracts 82 climbers at home and abroad

NANNING, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- The 2018 Yangshuo Climbing Festival concluded on Sunday, featuring 82 rock climbers both at home and abroad during the three-day event.

Those rock climbers from Britain, Poland, Russia, Singapore, the United States and host China competed in both redpoint and bouldering events.

Fifty routes were set up in Mt Jiuping, Mt Yueliang and Mt Leipi, and Liu Jia of China won the redpoint competition with 15 routes completed.

Against the wall of 23 meters in length and 4.5 meters in height, Liu Yongcheng of China and Przybysz Aleksandra of Poland won their respective men's and women's bouldering titles.

"Sometimes missing a route is even worse than losing millions of dollars," said Zhang Yong who dedicated himself to develope routes of rock-climbing for many years.

Zhang said he has met a great number of close friends through rock climbing.

There are more than 1,000 routes in Yangshuo, accounting for one third of the routes in China, attracting some 300 rock climbing lovers from all over the world to stay in Yangshuo all year round.

"Yangshuo is a unique destination nestled among the majestic karst pinnacles of south China's Guangxi Province," said Andrew, an American man who decided to live in Yangshuo after his first visit 10 years ago, "Yangshuo rock encompasses all styles of climbing from three dimensional body torquing routes to technical mentally demanding climbs."
