WUHAN, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Over 1,000 winter swimming enthusiasts will participate in a Yangtze River-crossing event, which is to be held in the crossroads of the Wuxia and Xiling Gorges from December 7-9.

The organizing committee announced here on Wednesday that the competition, which features four categories including individual crossing and mixed relay, will be held alongside a gourmet food festival and various tourism activities.

The route will stretch out over 1,500 meters. In order to ensure the safety of the swimmers, the organizing committee has arranged a professional team of lifeguards for the competitions.

The Wuxia and Xiling Gorges are two of the famous Three Gorges in central China, the other one is Qutang Gorge. Enditem
