ISTANBUL -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday that the disturbance in France during the "Yellow Vest" protests shows Europe has failed on democracy, human rights and freedom.

DAMASCUS -- The Islamic State (IS) militants managed on Saturday to push back the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) from a key town in eastern Syria after months-long battles, a war monitor reported.

With the bad weather conditions in the eastern countryside of Deir al-Zour Province in eastern Syria, IS militants launched a counter-attack against the SDF in the town of Hajin, capturing much of the town from the Kurdish-led forces, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. JERUSALEM -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed on Saturday to soon arrange a meeting between security delegations of the two countries.

The agreement was reached during the earlier phone talks between the two leaders over the current Israeli operation on its border with Lebanon, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office. (Israel-Russia-Security Meeting)

BEIRUT -- The spokesperson for the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Andrea Tenenti announced Saturday that he was informed by the Israeli army about the presence of another tunnel to the south of the Blue Line, local media reported.
