BAGHDAD -- Iraqis celebrated the Victory Day on Monday, one year after the announcement of full liberation of all Iraqi land from Islamic State (IS) militants.
As a new national holiday added by the government, the Victory Day saw streets in Baghdad and other Iraqi cities decorated with Iraqi flags and colored balloons, and loud speakers on the patrolling police vehicles singing patriotic songs. (Iraq-IS-Victory Day)

ISTANBUL -- The Turkish coast guards on Monday captured 112 illegal immigrants on a boat off southwestern Turkey in the Aegean Sea.

TRIPOLI -- Libya's state-owned National Oil Corporation (NOC) on Monday declared force majeure in Al-Sharara oil field in the south, following forced closure of the field by an armed group.
"NOC hereby declares a state of force majeure at the Sharara oil field as of Dec. 9, 2018. NOC prioritizes the safety of staff and is currently reviewing evacuation procedures following threats to their well-being, and the forced shutdown of the oilfield by the armed militia claiming attachment to the local Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG)," NOC said in a statement. GAZA -- At least 32 Palestinian protesters were injured on Monday during clashes with Israeli soldiers stationed on the border between the northern Gaza Strip and Israel, medics said.
According to a press statement by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, 11 of them were injured by live gunshots, 12 by rubber-coated metal bullets and nine by tear gas canisters. (Palestine-Israel-Clashes) Enditem
