BEIJING, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Yang Jiechi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met with a delegation from the American Foreign Policy Council (AFPC) led by Timothy Keating, former commander-in-chief of the U.S. Pacific Command, on Friday.
Yang, also director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, said leaders of the two countries have met recently and agreed to jointly advance China-U.S. relations with coordination, cooperation and stability as the defining features.
He called on the AFPC to play a more important role in promoting the development of bilateral relations.
Keating said the United States and China are important cooperation partners, which should enhance communication and enhance trust to achieve mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. He said the AFPC will make efforts to cement mutual cognition and understanding between the two countries. Enditem
