DAMASCUS -- Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Sunday arrived in Syria's capital Damascus, the first Arab leader to do so since the Syrian crisis erupted in 2011, state news agency SANA reported.

The Sudanese president was received by his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad at the international airport of Damascus, SANA said. (Syira-Sudan-Visit)

DAMASCUS -- Syria's Social Affairs and Labor Minister Rima al-Qadiri has said that 30,000 orphans have been registered in the capital Damascus and its countryside, the pro-government al-Watan newspaper said Sunday.

BEIRUT -- Tens of protesters held a demonstration Sunday in Riad El Solh, downtown Beirut, demanding the prosecution of the corrupt political authority in Lebanon, local media reported.

"This is only the beginning of a series of measures that will be taken until the political authority assumes its full responsibilities for the economic deterioration," Hanna Gharib, the general secretary of the Lebanese Communist Party, was quoted by Elnashra, an online independent newspaper, as saying. TEHRAN -- Iranian experts have managed to conduct checks on the first Airbus passenger plane that was delivered to Iran following the International Iranian nuclear deal clinched in 2015, CEO of Iran Air, Farzaneh Sharafbafi, said on Sunday.

"Relying on the power of domestic experts, we were recently able to conduct the overhaul of the first Airbus after numerous flights," Sharafbafi was quoted as saying by Tasnim news agency. (Iran-Airbus) Enditem
