KUNMING, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- A drone flying contest will be held on December 31 in Kunming, capital city of southwest China's Yunnan Province, organizers announced here on Wednesday.

The contest has so far attracted nearly 80 participants from across China, whose flying and photography skills will be tested over a selection of different events.

"During the speed race, contestants will wear VR glasses while they control their machines at high speed through FPV (First Person View), guiding their drones between various obstacles. The first drone to finish the whole course will be declared the winner," said Wei Zhongqiang, who features on the judging panel of the organizing committee.

"Competitors wearing FPV glasses will feel like they are flying a real plane, so the contest is also known as "F1 in the air"," Wei added. Enditem
