BEIJING, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.44 percent at 2,493.90 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.34 percent higher at 7,239.79 points. The combined turnover of stocks in the two indices stood at 239.82 billion yuan (34.76 billion U.S. dollars), down from 263.89 billion yuan recorded on the previous trading day.
Securities brokers led the rally. Sealand Securities Co., Ltd rose 7.92 percent to close at 4.36 yuan. Guosen Securities ended at 8.37 yuan, up 2.32 percent.
PetroChina, the country's largest oil producer, fell 0.14 percent to end at 7.21 yuan. Sinopec, China's biggest oil refiner, lost 3.81 percent to close at 5.05 yuan.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.20 percent to close at 1,250.53 points. Enditem
