RABAT -- Nearly 29 tons of cannabis have been seized in less than one week in Moroccan northern city of Tangier, a few miles away from Spain, according to the Moroccan police on Thursday.

The police said in a statement that they seized a total of 15.24 tons of cannabis Wednesday on board a Morocco-registered semi-trailer truck which was spotted at a popular neighborhood in Tangier. (Morocco-Drug Trafficking)

TEHRAN -- Iran's Foreign Ministry on Thursday confirmed the recent arrest of a U.S. national in the Iranian northeastern city of Mashhad, Tasnim news agency reported on Thursday.

Michael R. White, the American national, was arrested in Iran's Mashhad city several month ago and Iran informed the American government of his detention through the U.S. interest section in Tehran, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi was quoted as saying. (Iran-U.S.- Detention)

CAIRO -- U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Thursday that the United States will "use diplomacy" and work with partners to curb Iran's influence in the Middle East region.

ADEN, Yemen -- The Saudi-backed Yemeni government strongly condemned the deadly drone strike carried out by the Iranian-backed Houthi group against a military parade in the southern province of Lahj on Thursday.
