BEIJING, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Friday, led by liquor and aircraft manufacturing sectors.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed slightly up at 2,553.83 points, rising 0.74 percent, while the Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.61 percent higher at 7,474.01 points.
The combined turnover of stocks in the two indices rose to 296.2 billion yuan (about 43.6 billion U.S. dollars) from 313.36 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Shares of liquor industry and aircraft manufacturing led the gain, with the sub-indexes jumping 2.01 percent and 1.63 percent, respectively.
The Zhejiang-based winery Kuaijishan Shaoxing Wine Co., Ltd. rose 3.85 percent to 9.45 yuan per share.
China Spacesat Co., Ltd. climbed 5.27 percent to close at 19.18 yuan per share.
Shares of home appliances and highways and bridges bucked the trend and suffered loss Friday.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.2 percent to close at 1,261.56 points Friday. Enditem
