TEHRAN -- At least 15 people were killed on Monday in a Boeing 707 plane crash near Iran's northern city of Karaj, the Iranian Student News Agency (ISNA) reported.

Among the 15 killed, 14 men and one woman on board, 10 could be identified and five others need further genetic examinations, Hamid Davood Abadi, head of Forensic Medicine Center of Alborz Province, told ISNA. (Iran-Plane Crash-Killing)

RIYADH -- Visiting U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Monday discussed with Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir on Monday the regional efforts against the Iranian "malign" activity, Al Arabiya TV reported.

BAGHDAD -- King Abdullah II of Jordan met with top Iraqi officials on Monday in Baghdad to follow implementation of cooperation agreements signed earlier by the two countries in the fields of energy and economy.

The Jordanian king was received by Iraqi President Barham Salih at the Baghdad airport and the two held a meeting and discussed the bilateral relations and common interest and the need to enhance them to serve the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples, a statement issued by the Presidential Office said. MUSCAT -- Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman on Monday received U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at Bait Al Baraka in Muscat.

ANKARA -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump on Monday discussed Syria issues, including the establishment of a safe zone in northern Syria, amid a diplomatic spat over the U.S. withdrawal from the region.
