JERUSALEM -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will travel to Chad on Jan. 20, his office said Thursday, where he is expected to announce the resumption of diplomatic ties with the African country.

Netanyahu will depart for a "historic visit" to Chad on Sunday and will meet Chadian President Idriss Deby, the prime minister's office said in a statement. (Israel-PM)

ISTANBUL -- Turkey on Thursday deported a Dutch journalist with suspected links to a terror group over tip from the Dutch side, said head of the directorate of communications under the Turkish presidency.

Johanna Cornelia Boersma, a freelance reporter with the Dutch newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad, was expelled in the morning after the Turkish intelligence received from the Dutch police "her links to a designated terrorist organization," Fahrettin Altun said in a written statement. ADEN, Yemen -- A shooting targeted convoy of the United Nations cease-fire monitoring team in Yemen's Red Sea port city of Hodeidah on Thursday, causing no casualties, a government official told Xinhua.

The government official, who asked to remain anonymous, said that gunfire targeted the motorcade of retired Dutch General Patrick Cammaert, head of the Joint Coordination Committee to monitor the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement, in Hodeidah province. (Yemen-Houthis-UN Convoy)

JERUSALEM -- Israeli and Russian military officials have agreed to continue the coordination of their military actions in Syria, Israeli army said on Thursday.

BEIRUT -- Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdel Karim Ali said Thursday that he rejected the invitation to Lebanon's Arab Economic and Social Development Summit due to the "inappropriate approach" of the Arab League towards Syria, local media reported.

"I will not be attending the summit because the Arab League is the organizer of the event and its approach towards Syria is inappropriate," Ali was quoted as saying by Elnashra, an online independent newspaper. (Lebanon-Syria) Enditem
