TAIYUAN, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- By the end of 2018, a coalbed methane (CBM) development and utilization project in north China's Shanxi Province had gained a total of about 80.25 million U.S. dollars of loans from the World Bank, the provincial finance department said Sunday.

Shanxi Provincial Guoxin Energy Development Group applied for the loans from the World Bank in 2012 for the CBM project, which includes construction of six sub-projects on CBM-based cogeneration of heat and power and urban pipelines. The construction work is about to be completed, according to the department.

The CBM project is expected to help boost the reform of the transport, supply and consumption of local energy, reduce greenhouse gas emission and improve resource utilization efficiency. Enditem
