DAMASCUS -- A suicide bomber detonated himself in a convoy of U.S. forces in Syria's northeastern province of Hasakah on Monday, injuring two U.S. soldiers and killing five Kurdish-led fighters, a war monitor reported.

The bomber detonated his car bomb while a convoy of U.S. forces accompanied by Kurdish-led fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the southern countryside of Hasakah, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. (Syria-U.S.-Bomb)

CAIRO -- Naval units from Egypt and Bahrain arrived on Monday to conduct three-day joint naval drills in the Gulf, the armed forces said in a statement on its website.

TRIPOLI -- Libya's Interior Ministry on Monday said that 84 illegal migrants, including women and children, were rescued on Sunday off the coast of the city of Zuwara, some 120 km west of the capital Tripoli.

"On Sunday afternoon, a fisherman from Zuwara city reported that there was a rubber boat carrying a number of illegal migrants who were rescued by a patrol of the Coast Security Department," the ministry said in a statement. (Libya-Illegal Migrants)

BAGHDAD -- Iraqi forces, backed by U.S.-led international coalition, clashed with the Islamic State (IS) militants and carried out airstrikes in northern and western Iraq, destroying 10 IS hideouts and killing at least five extremist militants.

The Iraqi Defense Ministry said on Monday that the troops detonated more than 730 explosive devices in different areas, while Iraqi and coalition aircraft bombarded 10 IS hideouts as well as bombing a booby-trapped car. (Iraq-U.S.-IS)

TEHRAN -- Deputy Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Monday that the Islamic republic will not tolerate any "hostile coalition" against Tehran, Tehran Times daily reported.
