BEIJING, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- The Ministry of Civil Affairs (MCA) has prohibited two illegal social organizations and their affiliated bodies, according to a statement from the ministry Wednesday.

Investigation found that neither of the organizations were registered, the statement said.

One of them operated and organized activities in the name of military-civilian integration, harming the seriousness and authority of the country's relevant strategy, the statement said.

The other one, under the name of "China history education commission," conducted fraud and profiteered by pretending to promote Chinese traditional culture, it said.

The MCA requires civil affairs agencies at all levels to strengthen the crackdown on similar illegal social organizations to protect the public's interests and maintain the environment for legal organizations' healthy and orderly development.

The MCA said it paid special attention to the crackdown on illegal social organizations last year, and as of August, over 1,800 relevant organizations have been banned or dismissed nationwide. Enditem
