1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close lower Tuesday

BEIJING, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.11 percent to close at 2,594.25. The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.50 percent lower at 7,551.30.

The combined turnover of stocks on the two indices stood at 293.8 billion yuan (about 43.62 billion U.S. dollars), down from 300 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Most shares lost, with losers outnumbering gainers 1,119 to 290 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,741 to 335 in Shenzhen.

The instrument and meter manufacturing industry and printing and packaging industry were the biggest losers. Shenzhen Clou Electronics declined 9.96 percent to close at 4.25 yuan per share, while Beijing Shengtong Printing lost 9.96 percent to close at 9.31 yuan per share.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board, dropped 1.28 percent to close at 1,243.59. Enditem
