Hong Kong's foreign currency reserve assets up in February

HONG KONG, March 7 (Xinhua) -- The official foreign currency reserve assets of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region expanded in February, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) said on Thursday.

The official foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong amounted to 434.5 billion U.S. dollars as at the end of February, higher than 432.1 billion U.S. dollars at the end of January.

Including unsettled foreign exchange contracts, the foreign currency reserve assets of Hong Kong at the end of February amounted to 427.3 billion U.S. dollars, higher than 425 billion U.S. dollars at the end of January.

The total foreign currency reserve assets of 434.5 billion U.S. dollars represent about seven times the currency in circulation or 46 percent of Hong Kong dollar M3. Enditem
