BEIJING, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher Friday with the industrial hemp related companies and tourism sector leading the gains.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.09 percent to close at 3,104.15, while the Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.1 percent higher at 9,879.21.
Combined trading volume on the two bourses dropped to 801.94 billion yuan (around 119.8 billion U.S. dollars) from 885.95 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Gainers outnumbered losers by 722 to 682 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,037 to 1022 in Shenzhen.
Shares in the industrial hemp and tourism sectors saw notable growth. Zhejiang Golden Eagle Co., Ltd. rose by the daily 10-percent limit to 8.2 yuan per share, and China CYTS Tours Holding Co., Ltd., a major Chinese travel agency, surged 5.14 percent to 17.18 yuan.
Bucking the trend, stocks of husbandry and brokerage sectors were sluggish. For example, China Securities Co., Ltd. decreased 4.82 percent to finish at 24.5 yuan per share.
