DAMASCUS -- The U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Saturday the defeat of the Islamic State (IS) militant group in eastern Syria, the SDF spokesman said.

TEHRAN -- Heavy rains over the last three days have devastated the residential areas and infrastructures in northern Iran along the Caspian Sea, engulfing dozens of cities and villages.

TUNIS -- The Tunisian presidential election is officially and finally scheduled on Nov. 10, 2019, Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) reported on Saturday.

BEIRUT -- U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Saturday that the United States will continue to support the Lebanese army, the National News Agency reported.
