BEIJING, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Here is a list of things you can do in China Friday to enjoy the country's rich cultural life in terms of shows, concerts, exhibitions and events.

-- Listen to Chinese folk music concert "Wu Xing (Five Elements)" performed by Beijing Chinese Orchestra at the Beijing Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m.

If you are interested in China's traditional "five elements," namely metal, wood, water, fire and earth, the concert may offer you a special perspective to learn about them via different Chinese musical instruments and innovated arrangements.

-- Watch Broadway musical "School of Rock" at the Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center in Beijing at 2:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.

Based on the hit movie of the same title, this musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a supply teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight A students into a rock band.

-- Watch play "Ghetto" at Beijing's Capital Theater at 7:00 p.m.

Written by Israeli playwright Joshua Sobol, the play is about the experiences of the Jews of the Vilna Ghetto during Nazi occupation in World War II, based on real people and historic events in the ghettos.

-- Listen to "Jonathan Nott" performed by the visiting Orchestre de la Suisse Romande at the Shanghai Symphony Hall in Shanghai at 8:00 p.m.

Founded in 1918, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande has built an international reputation thanks to its historic recordings and its interpretation of the 20th century French and Russian repertories. The conductor, Jonathan Nott, is well known for the power, vigor and clarity of his interpretations of Mahler's works.

-- Watch play "Escape from No. 23" at the Pioneer Theater of the National Theater of China in Beijing at 7:30 p.m.

The play is about a Chinese woman deciding to leave her mother, also her only family member, and thus unveiling a series of secrets of the family. Enditem
