BEIJING, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The following is a list of events you can enjoy in China on Monday to take in the country's rich cultural life in terms of shows, concerts, exhibitions amongst other events.

-- Listen to a theme concert featuring Shanghai Symphony Orchestra in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China at the Concert Hall of the Shanghai Symphony Hall at 7:15 p.m.

Titled "My Motherland and I," the concert will mark the start of the 36th Shanghai Spring International Music Festival, the longest-running music festival of China.

The Shanghai Symphony Orchestra will be joined by a chorus from the neighboring Jiangsu Province and a youth art troupe with the China Welfare Institute, to perform classic works composed by noted Chinese composers over the 70 years. Chen Xieyang, a renowned senior Chinese conductor, will conduct the concert.

-- Enjoy a concert performed by Franz Welser-Most and the Cleveland Orchestra at the Poly Grand Theatre in Nanjing, east China's Jiangsu Province.

Referred to as one of the "Big Five", the Cleveland Orchestra is one of the greatest American orchestras. The concert will include Richard Strauss's "Ein Heldenleben", which is one of the conductor Franz Welser-Most's specialities and the seldom-heard "Third Symphony" composed by Prokofiev when the composer was living in France.

Daisy's music blends a wide variety of musical styles including classical, pop, reggae, Irish folk, gypsy violin and rock, alongside her band's own arrangements of classical pieces. The repertoire on Monday will also include "Jasmine Flower" and "Kang Ding Qing Ge," two of the most famous Chinese folk pieces. Enditem
