WUHAN, April 8 (Xinhua) -- The fourth Wuhan International Kite Flying Tournament will take place on April 27 and 28.

Held in the Mulan Grasslands, the tournament will unite 160 professional kite flyers and over 10,000 amateurs from 25 nations and regions, according to Zhao Liqun, secretary general of the Wuhan Kite Flying Association.

"This year's tournament will see more competitors from more countries and regions than in the previous three years," Zhao noted. In addition to Chinese entrants, there will also be representatives from countries such as the United States, Canada, France, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore and Colombia. Several world-renowned stunt kite performance teams are also set to feature.

"Through this event, we hope to establish Wuhan as a city where kite flying is a citywide fitness choice, which should help people who suffer from back pain," said Yan Fan, deputy director of the local sports bureau.

In addition to the event's competitive element, kite artists from all over China will be invited to lead kite-making workshops during the tournament, guiding visitors to design and make their own kites. The Mulan Grassland's kite museum will also display a selection of notable kites from around the world.

Held for the first time in 2016, the Wuhan International Kite Flying Tournament, has attracted a total of over 500 professional kite flyers and more than 200,000 visitors from across the globe. Enditem
