1st LD-Writethru: China's top legislature schedules bi-monthly session

BEIJING, April 12 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislature will convene its bi-monthly session from April 20 to 23, according to a statement issued after a chairpersons' meeting Friday.

Li Zhanshu, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, presided over the meeting.

Attendees of the meeting suggested that legislators review draft revisions to the laws on judges, procurators, securities, and drug administration at the session.

A draft law on vaccine administration and two draft sections on property and personality rights of the civil code will also be reviewed.

The top legislature is also expected to review draft revisions suggested by the State Council concerning nine laws including the construction law.

At the session, the legislators will decide whether to ratify a treaty between China and Barbados on criminal judicial assistance as well as one between China and Azerbaijan on the transfer of sentenced persons.

They will consider reports on environmental protection and rural industrial development, among others.

The legislators will deliberate on a report on deputy qualifications and review official appointments and dismissals.

The chairpersons' meeting approved a plan on the NPC Standing Committee's major tasks, legislation and supervision work for 2019, the statement said. Enditem
