DAMASCUS -- Two land mines went off in northern and southern Syria on Sunday, killing one child and wounding seven others, a war monitor reported.

One of the land mines exploded in the Sukkari area in the Aleppo province in northern Syria, killing one child and wounding others while another mine went off in the southern province of Daraa, wounding seven people. (Syria-Land Mines)

TRIPOLI -- A total of 121 people have been killed and 561 others wounded in the fighting between the UN-backed Libyan government and the east-based army in and around the capital Tripoli so far, the World Health Organization (WHO) said Sunday.

KHARTOUM -- Spokesman of Sudan's Transitional Military Council Shams-Eddin Kabashi on Sunday said that a committee has been formed to receive the headquarters and assets of the National Congress Party (NCP).
