KUNMING, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Top-seeded Jordan Thompson of Australia lost to his British opponent Jay Clarke in the fourth round of Kunming Tennis Open on Thursday.

As the top seed, Thompson was expected to roll over lower-ranked Clarke but instead, he lost the first set 7-5. Though he fought back to take the second set 6-2, he failed to prevail and bowed out after conceding the third set 6-2.

Another Australian James Duckworth advanced to the last eight after disposing compatriot Jason Kubler 7-5, 7-6 in two hours and five minutes.

Duckworth will be joined in the quarterfinals by his compatriot Alex Bolt. Bolt enjoyed an easy battle against Enrique Lopez of Spain, winning 6-3, 6-4 in just one hour 20 minutes. Enditem
