DAMASCUS -- One person was killed and five others wounded on Wednesday when an explosion occurred in Syria's capital Damascus, state TV reported.

The explosion rocked the Naher Aysheh area south of Damascus, said the report, adding that investigations are underway to determine its nature. (Syria-Explosion)

TEHRAN -- Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Wednesday that the Islamic republic will respond to the U.S. enmity over mounting sanction pressures against Tehran, official IRNA news agency reported.

"Their attempts (to pressure Iran) will lead nowhere. We can sell our oil as much as we want and in the quantity that we need," Khamenei was quoted as saying. (Iran-U.S.-Khamenei)

GAZA -- The Islamic Hamas Movement on Wednesday called on the United Nations to redouble its efforts to speed up the implementation of the truce with Israel in the Gaza Strip.

"The United Nations should redouble its efforts to speed up the implementation of the understandings of calm and pressure on the Israeli occupation to do so," Abdellatif Al-Ganoua, the spokesman of Hamas told Xinhua. (Hamas-UN-Gaza)

SANAA -- Yemen's Houthi rebels said that they launched a drone attack on Wednesday on a gathering of Saudi soldiers in the Saudi southern province of Asir.
