HOHHOT, May 4 (Xinhua) -- A series of events including international marathon and windsurfing will be held in May at Wuhai Lake, a major lake of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, local authorities said.

The Marathon along Wuhai Lake is slated for May 5. More than 10,000 runners from China, US, Germany, Japan, Ethiopia, Kenya and other countries will participate in the full, half and 5km mini marathons, organizers said.

The total bonus is 300,000 yuan (44,552 US dollars), which will be awarded to 848 winners.

For Wuhai Lake windsurfing event from May 10 to 12, over 130 domestic and overseas competitors have signed up. They will compete in the four categories of formula, short boards, long boards and kite boards, organizers said.

Wuhai Lake covers an area of 118 square kilometers. It took shape after the Yellow River Haibowan Water Control Project in Wuhai City had succeeded in reserving water since 2013. Enditem
