TEHRAN -- A 5.1-magnitude earthquake hit Ezgele region in Iran's western Kermanshah province, near Iraq border, at 14:58 a.m. local time (1028 GMT) on Saturday.

According to Iranian Seismological Center, the epicenter of the earthquake was at the depth of 8 km, 34.847 degrees north latitude and 45.762 degrees east longitude. (Iran-Earthquake-Ezgele)

KHARTOUM -- Sudan's Transitional Military Council (TMC) has invited the major opposition forces for a meeting set for Sunday to discuss arrangements of transitional period and formation of a civilian government, the opposition announced Saturday.

"We have received a call from the TMC to resume the negotiations," said the major opposition Freedom and Change Alliance in a statement. (Sudan-TMC)

DAMASCUS -- The Syrian army has carried out intense strikes on rebel positions in the southern countryside of Idlib province in northwestern Syria, state news agency SANA reported on Saturday.

SANAA -- Yemen's Houthi rebels began on Saturday withdrawal from two ports of Hodeidah Province, eyewitnesses said.

Khalid al-Hawaki, a resident at al-Mina quarter of the port city of Hodeidah, told Xinhua by phone that dozens of military vehicles were seen carrying Houthi militias from the ports of Salif and Ras Issa and arriving at the center of Hodeidah city. (Yemen-Hodeidah-Houthis) Enditem
