BEIJING, May 19 (Xinhua) -- The following are a selection of shows available in Beijing the coming week:

Rudolf Buchbinder & Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden

Date: May 21-22, 2019

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Place: Concert Hall, National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA)

Introduction:

Beethoven's five piano concertos will be performed by a world-renowned orchestra, Staatskapelle Dresden, together with Rudolf Buchbinder, who is the pianist and conductor. Buchbinder has appeared in concerts with famous orchestras and conductors all over the world for more than 50 years. The Staatskapelle Dresden, founded in 1548, is one of the oldest orchestras in the world.

The 4th EU-China International Literary Festival

Date: May 17-June 5

Place: the Bookworm and CITIC Bookstores in Beijing

Introduction:

Various activities including lectures, workshops and dialogues for both children and adults will be held in CITIC bookstores and the Bookworm in Beijing. World-respected European and Chinese writers will be invited to share their insights on literature. The project is funded by the European Union.

Peppa Pig Live! Peppa Pig's Celebration

Date: May 24-26

Place: Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Centre

Introduction:

As a household name in China, Peppa Pig will be live on stage in Beijing with her musical show. Introduced from Britain, the show has been translated into Chinese. Peppa Pig's Celebration tells the story of how truly special it is to collect and treasure shared memories. Families with children will enjoy the music, story and interaction with actors during the show.

The Asian Civilization Exhibition (Artworks)

Date: May 10-26

Place: National Art Museum of China

Introduction:

Titled "Shared Inspiration -- Asian Art Exhibition," the event will showcase 130 pieces of art created by 120 artists from 41 countries, including China, India, Japan and Pakistan. Within the three themed areas, different art pieces, such as wash paintings, oil paintings and sculptures, are exhibited to demonstrate the spirit of Chinese culture, the uniqueness of Asian civilization and the coexisting cultural origins among Asian countries.
