DOHA, May 28 (Xinhua) -- Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will meet on Wednesday with Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, according to the state-run Qatar News Agency (QNA).

Abdul Mahdi is due to arrive in Doha on Wednesday for an official visit to Qatar, where the two leaders will discuss means of boosting bilateral relations as well as issues of mutual concern, QNA quoted a royal court statement on Tuesday.

The Iraqi prime minister had said a week ago that his country would send delegations to the United States and Iran in a bid to ease tension in an already-troubled Middle East region.

Abdul Mahdi's Qatari visit announcement coincides with a visit by Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi to Doha as part of a Gulf tour that also took him to Oman and Kuwait to exchange views about the current crisis in the area. Enditem
