BEIJING, June 9 (Xinhua) -- The following are a selection of shows available in Beijing in the coming week:

A Tale of Two Cities: NCPA Orchestra and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra Concert

Date: June 13

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Place: Multi-functional Theatre, National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA)

Introduction:

Established in March 2010, NCPA Orchestra, the resident orchestra of NCPA, consists of accomplished international musicians who perform in more than a dozen opera productions, ballets and orchestral concerts each year.

As one of Asia's foremost classical orchestras, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra presents more than 150 concerts and attracts over 200,000 music lovers annually.

The orchestras will play the works of Paul Taffanel, David Maslanka and Joachim Raff at the concert.

Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra

Date: June 15

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Place: Concert Hall, NCPA

Introduction:

Founded in 1918 and dubbed one of Europe's foremost orchestras, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra distinguishes itself with its acclaimed recordings and its intense energy during performances.

The orchestra will present the masterpieces by Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich at the concert.

Suzhou Chinese Orchestra

Date: June 13

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Place: Concert Hall, NCPA

Introduction:

Established in 2017, the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra has been dedicated to promoting traditional Chinese culture by integrating Chinese folk music into orchestra performances and reinterpreting and expressing traditional Chinese music through the symphonic format.

The works by Chinese composers Li Binyang and Zhang Chao will be presented at the concert. Enditem
