1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close mixed Monday

BEIJING, June 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed mixed on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.2 percent, at 2,887.62 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.33 percent lower at 8,780.87 points.

The combined turnover of stocks in the two indices stood at 335.7 billion yuan (about 48.69 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 448.92 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Most stocks rose, with gainers outnumbering losers by 775 to 598 on the Shanghai bourse, and 1,032 to 1,003 in Shenzhen.

Companies in the medicine and communications sectors were among the biggest winners, with Hubei Century Network Technology Inc. seeing its share price up by the daily 10-percent limit to 12.07 yuan a share.

Stocks related to agriculture and gold led the losses.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.8 percent to close at 1,442.35 points. Enditem
