CHANGSHA, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Some rare plants have been discovered in a nature reserve in central China's Hunan province.

Six plants of Epipogium roseum (D. Don) Lindl were found in full bloom in the Mangshan National Nature Reserve in Yizhang County. The plants were found in an area of about 2 square meters. It is the first time that the plants were found in Hunan.

The plants, known for the stripes on their leaves, usually grow in under forests or in valleys. They have been found in the provinces of Guangdong, Hainan and Yunnan.

The nature reserve was built in 1994. It covers an area of 19,833 hectares and hosts scores of wild animals and plants under state protection. Enditem
