BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhua) -- The appointment of professionals from Taiwan as arbitrators in Chinese mainland arbitral institutions has played a positive role, a mainland spokesperson said Wednesday.
An Fengshan, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council told a press briefing that the Taiwan arbitrators have helped protect the rights and interests of Taiwan compatriots, improve the investment environment and promote exchanges between arbitral institutions and practitioners across the Strait.
He said that more than 40 mainland arbitral institutions had appointed nearly 100 Taiwan arbitrators since 1998, some of whom have already handled arbitration cases.
In addition, An gave a brief introduction of an online store selling Taiwan products launched on June 20 by a Hangzhou-based e-commerce platform in cooperation with a Taiwan platform.
The access to Taiwan's quality products and services through mainland e-commerce platforms shows the promotion of cross-Strait connectivity wherever necessary, An said.
The ever-deepening e-commerce cooperation between the mainland and Taiwan will further boost economic integration and advance the integrated development across the Strait, he added. Enditem
