1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares close lower Friday

BEIJING, June 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.6 percent to close at 2,978.88 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.66 percent lower at 9,178.31 points.

The combined turnover in the two indices stood at 415.5 billion yuan (about 60.5 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 475.8 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Most stocks lost, with losers outnumbering gainers by 1,134 to 286 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,764 to 346 in Shenzhen.

Stocks of semi-conductor and chip sectors were among the biggest losers. Shares of Dawning Information Industry lost 3.84 percent to 35.1 yuan per share.

Bucking the trend, companies in rare earth, cement and environmental protection sectors saw their share prices rise, with shares of Qingdao Huicheng Environmental Technology rising to the daily-limit of 10 percent to 52.04 yuan.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.9 percent to close at 1,511.51 points. Enditem
