BEIJING, July 2 (Xinhua) -- "The Little Mermaid," a children's play jointly produced by artists from China and Denmark, will hit the stage at the China National Theatre for Children on Saturday and Sunday.

Adapted from the fairy tale written by Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen, the play retains the original plot and tries to lead the audience to think about loving and giving.

The stage design of the play is inspired by paper cutting, which H.C. Andersen is also good at, and some stage props are also made from paper. Despite some sadness at the end of the play, the creators hope children would enjoy themselves during the show, so they designed the characters and body movements in the play to be funny.

The play will be on stage again for six performances at weekends between Aug. 17 and Sept. 1. Enditem
