SHIJIAZHUANG, July 3 (Xinhua) -- China's benchmark power coal price remained flat during the past week.

The Bohai-Rim Steam-Coal Price Index, a gauge of coal prices in north China's major ports, stood at 578 yuan (about 84 U.S. dollars) per tonne Wednesday, according to the Qinhuangdao Ocean Shipping Coal Trading Market Co. Ltd.

Analysts said that there were weak demand and supply of coal consumption during the peak season. Meanwhile, the energy consumption turns to clean energy, and electricity coal consumption is restrained, resulting in the stabilization of coal trading prices.

In addition, the coal stocks at the country's major ports rose 18.9 percent from the same period last year, and the high stockpiles also depressed the coal prices. Enditem
