GUANGZHOU, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Police in southern China's Guangdong Province have cracked 1,122 intellectual property rights (IPR) infringement cases in the first half of this year as China steps up its crackdown on IPR violations.

A total of 2,029 people were detained, according to the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department Tuesday.

For example, the police have busted two criminal gangs selling fake world brand auto parts, seizing more than 90,000 brake pads, air grids, shock absorbers and other auto parts, involving more than 15 million yuan (2.18 million U.S. dollars), according to preliminary statistics.

Chinese courts at all levels concluded 288,000 cases related to IPR in 2018, up 41.8 percent year on year. Enditem
