Biz China Weekly: GDP, non-financial ODI, IPR protection and service outsourcing market

BEIJING, July 20 (Xinhua) -- The following are the highlights of China's key business news from the past week:

GDP

The country's GDP logged 6.3-percent growth in the first half of this year (H1), in line with the government's annual target of 6-6.5 percent, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed.

In the second quarter, the economy rose 6.2 percent from one year earlier, a retreat from 6.4 percent in the first quarter.

NON-FINANCIAL ODI

China's non-financial outbound direct investment (ODI) in 151 countries and regions amounted to 346.8 billion yuan (about 50.4 billion U.S. dollars) in the period, up 0.1 percent year on year, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

In June alone, the ODI rose 6.3 percent year on year to 63.7 billion yuan.

IPR PROTECTION

China will continue to strengthen law enforcement for IPR protection, actively advance the revision of relevant laws and regulations, and improve the quality and efficiency of IPR examination, according to a statement released after a State Council executive meeting chaired by Premier Li Keqiang.

Legitimate rights and interests of all market entities shall be protected on an equal footing, said the statement.

SERVICE OUTSOURCING MARKET

China's service outsourcing industry reported stable growth in H1 as the country steps up efforts to narrow the service trade deficit, showed the MOC data.

Chinese businesses inked service outsourcing contracts worth 709.98 billion yuan during the Jan.-June period, up 29.3 percent year on year.

Of the total, offshore service outsourcing contracts reached 464.92 billion yuan, rising 34.6 percent from a year earlier. Enditem
