SHANGHAI, July 22 (Xinhua) -- Chinese supermarket chain operator Yonghui Superstores Co., Ltd. reported annual net profit growth of 45 percent in the first half of 2019.

Net profit attributable to its shareholders rose to about 1.35 billion yuan (196 million U.S. dollars) in the January-June period from 933.5 million yuan in the same period last year, Yonghui said in its preliminary earnings estimate filed with the Shanghai Stock Exchange Monday.

During the period, its revenue grew 19.7 percent year on year to 41.17 billion yuan, said Yonghui, partly owned by e-commerce giant JD.com and Internet giant Tencent.

The revenue growth came as it opened new stores and reported same-store sales growth, Yonghui said. Enditem
