1st LD-Writethru: Chinese shares end mixed Monday

BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhua) -- Major Chinese stock indices ended mixed Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.12 percent to 2,941.01 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.06 percent higher at 9,354.28 points.

The combined turnover of stocks on the two exchanges stood at 343.74 billion yuan (about 49.95 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 351.86 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Losers outnumbered gainers by 880 to 512 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,195 to 843 in Shenzhen.

Stocks in sectors of animal husbandry and electronics led the gains, with shares of LED screen manufacturer Shenzhen Refond Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. climbing 9.5 percent to 7.26 yuan. Shandong Minhe Animal Husbandry Co., Inc. rose 7.33 percent to 36.01 yuan apiece.

Shares of brokerages were among the biggest losers, with Wuhan-based Changjiang Securities Co., Ltd. diving 6.17 percent to 7.61 yuan.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.3 percent to close at 1,566.52 points. Enditem
