MUSCAT, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Oman's Ministry of Oil and Gas signed a gas exploration agreement with Italy's Eni and BP Oman for concession block 77, the ministry said on its Twitter account on Wednesday.

The agreement involves seismic studies and the drilling of exploration wells and it is expected to lead to the discovery of new oil fields, the ministry added.

The agreement offers exploration rights and development of an onshore area of 2.73 square km in central Oman.

During the exploration period, Eni will be the operator with a 50-percent stake while BP will hold the rest. Enditem
