SHANGHAI, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Gold futures closed lower Thursday in daytime trading on the Shanghai Futures Exchange.
The most active gold contract for December delivery was down 4.9 yuan (about 71 U.S. cents) to close at 316.6 yuan a gram.
On Thursday, the total trading volume for seven listed gold futures contracts on the exchange was 589,588 lots, with a turnover of about 188.5 billion yuan.
